Our car broke down, so we couldn’t get to the apartment. We explained what had happened, but they weren’t willing to help. We paid 115 euros for the booking and got only 15 euros back.

It’s much cheaper than other places around, and doesn’t look like it does in the booking listing. But the owner is a really charming, thoughtful lady who runs the pet salon downstairs.

We never felt much personal warmth here. The welcome was just transactional, with no introduction to the guesthouse or tips about the region. Each time we asked the owner a question, we felt as if we were bothering them.

Our car broke down in France on Sunday, and sadly, no one was able to help us. The apartment looked good, but we never got to see it. I explained our situation, but the owners of this company were unsympathetic and unwilling to accommodate us. I’m a host myself and would never have dealt with it this way. A bad day for French hospitality.

The welcome was very warm, and the place is bright and spacious with a quiet night’s sleep. Everything works, and there’s no unnecessary decoration. It’s in Aumale and has two very large televisions, plus thoughtful touches. A great holiday cottage, equipped with everything you need, including heating, a kitchen and a bathroom.
