Résidence Odalys Le Sornin

The pool was the best part of our stay at the Goélia Residence. It was clean and well maintained, and the whole family enjoyed it. The children swam every day while the adults relaxed in the sun. There were a few things that took away from an otherwise lovely family break. The room still had quite a bit of dust when we arrived, so more care with the arrival cleaning would help. Bath mats weren’t included and had to be paid for separately, which we hadn’t expected. After each shower, the bathroom ended up flooded. There was a mop, but using it every day wasn’t very practical. We also found the receptionist we met rather unfriendly, which made for a disappointing welcome at a holiday resort. We’re leaving with wonderful family memories despite these issues, and hope the feedback helps improve the welcome and services. Thanks for the stay.

The young woman at reception was lovely, and she sorted out the small problems we had on arrival. The pillows were replaced straight away, and a mop was used to deal with the leaking shower. The pool was also very well maintained and closed in the evening. I wish they’d close the basketball court too. Even though a sign said not to use the sports field after 7 pm, children and parents tore the signs down. We had to keep the patio doors shut whenever we returned from walks. Our balcony faced the basketball court, and the ball hitting the asphalt went on from 8 am to 9 pm. We couldn’t eat lunch or dinner outside, despite having a nice table there. Avoid Building D. The apartment was spacious, but the buildings are dated, the stairs dusty, the pillows smelled bad, and the mattress protector was half torn. There are abandoned buildings around the residence. We’d enjoyed Goelia in July in Blonville and in winter in Aussois, so these 15 days here were a real disappointment. This former Odalys residence doesn’t meet Goelia’s standard and deserves no more than two stars.

There are several nearby farms, and plenty to do, with hiking trails, a pool, ping-pong, pétanque, and basketball. The residence is beautiful and well located, with lovely, well-equipped apartments. In winter, it’s right at the foot of the slopes.

We were there in summer, and it wasn’t too crowded at the end of August. The location makes it easy to get to lots of activities in the region, including Connoying, caving, and cave tours, about 30-45 minutes away. The rooms are still in their original condition. Updating them must be expensive, but they remain functional. Space is pretty tight.
