Au St Roch Hotel et Jardin

The charming grounds and our garden-view room made our stay feel special. The room was trés marveilleux, like Van Gogh's room. My daughter and I spent glorious days here, and the staff welcomed us warmly from check-in through check-out. Avignon is a perfect spot for exploring on foot, with easy access to trains, buses, and Uber. It's also a good base for seeing other parts of Provence, just an hour or two away by train. The little garden keeps things cool, and the owner was so friendly, helpful, and kind. This is an adorable small hotel with simple rooms and decent bathrooms, somewhere between basic and shabby chic. It's just outside the old town walls, which is a good location. The breakfast buffet was fine, though it could use a bit more variety. I'd definitely choose it again.

I remembered a great stay here from 15+ years ago, but this visit was a mixed bag. The place still has charm on the ground level, and the staff were kind and friendly. My tiny bathroom felt rather run down, and there was a sewage smell in my room. The walls are thin, so you'll want quiet neighbors. I also didn't find the mattress comfortable, though that's a matter of preference.

A place with character and a nice setup, in a good location. I especially like the garden rooms. Breakfast is the typical Franch spread of baguette and croissants. It's not a Hilton type hotel, but I'd definitely recommend it, especially if you're traveling by car and heading into the cit.
