Hotel Restaurant Les Roches

It was okay.

We paid €61 for the room, and it just wasn't worth that price. The place needs attention inside and out: the rooms need plumbing and maintenance work, the cleanliness needs to improve, and the interior could use a refresh. There was no breakfast service either. We stayed over the weekend of September 8-9, 2023, and I don't understand why a hotel in this condition isn't inspected before rooms are rented. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. Disappointed Vendée residents.

The restaurant is pleasant, with welcoming service, though you should allow about 30 minutes for food. It's a family-run business with new owners who have been there for two or three months. You can call ahead, and they do takeaway. I tried the generously filled, inexpensive kebab. The meat was good, though the fries were a bit soggy for my taste. The restaurant sits by the main road through a small, welcoming village, and serves a daily special, couscous, and kebabs. I'm writing here because the listing covers both the hotel and the restaurant. I'll try the couscous next time.

The receptionist was very pleasant and helpful, which was the one bright spot. The bathroom needs to be cleaner, and the standards and decor feel outdated. The main road right outside makes it noisy, and even with fans the room is like an oven. You can hear someone leaving their room all across the floor.
