Le Grand Monarque

Breakfast was lovely, and they even had some vegetables. We really enjoyed our night here, though we wished we could have stayed longer. Our room was spacious and beautiful, tucked under the eaves, with a modern, clean, comfortable bathroom. It was quiet and well located, and came with body lotion, a robe, slippers, and a refrigerator.

The staff were especially pleasant, attentive, and helpful throughout our three-night stay. The hotel is right in the center, and our room was clean, quiet, and in excellent condition. We liked the breakfast buffet and would happily recommend Hotel Le Grand Monarque. A couple of small things from our other high-end hotels: a Smart TV that let us sign in to our US Netflix account would have made it easier to watch programs in English. We also missed having a choice of soft or firm pillows, since there were only two soft ones here. Just minor suggestions.

The town made a lovely base for our week touring the Loire Valley, with its unique chateau by the river, good restaurants, and historic buildings. It was quiet and friendly, and the hotel itself was a delight. Our spacious, beautifully decorated room had air conditioning, which was a welcome break from the summer heat. Breakfast was delicious and varied, including much appreciated gluten-free bread. Laurent and Eric also helped us get dinner reservations, even at the last minute when we came back hungry from touring. The setting was comfortable and beautiful, and the staff were the friendliest and most helpful we had met on our travels.

We slept really well: the bed was comfortable and there was no road noise. The room was spacious, lovely, and perfectly clean, and the building and surroundings were beautiful in a charming village right in the center. Booking was easy, and private parking was a welcome bonus. Reception gave us a very friendly, professional welcome, and check-out was just as easy and pleasant. The price felt very reasonable for the value. Absolutely recommend.
