Françoise has made the interior feel really special, and the food was amazing, clearly sourced locally in Perigord. We had such a nice time here. Definitely worth a stop!

The owner was so kind, and the food was delicious in such a charming setting.
We booked ahead. The interior is really nice, with good cooking and friendly service. At the time I’m writing, they’re open every evening at 1930 except Mondays, when they’re closed.
The menu of the day was soup, the best lentils I’ve ever had (I never thought lentils could taste that good), then cheese and dessert. It was a filling meal at a very reasonable price, served in a cozy room, and the service was friendly. We came in on a cold, miserable, rainy winter day while heading to Hautefort. Even though it was nearly 14h00, they found us a table in the dining room. We warmed up first by the wood fire in the hall. We took away a useful lesson: if you’re hungry in the French countryside, see where the builder vans and trucks are parked!
The cooking and location are superb, and the proprietor-chef was welcoming and helpful. It’s a small auberge in a beautiful village near Hautefort. The rooms are fairly small and basic, though.
