Camping Le Monloo

There aren't many water points, which was the one drawback. Otherwise, a great little campsite with facilities that are excellent for the price. The lagoon was lovely for cooling down after a hot day in the mountains, and the bar staff were friendly and let us watch the Euro's on TV.

Bagneres-de-Bigorre is a wonderful town with everything you need, from nice restaurants to a spa. Clear skies also bring a beautiful view of Pic du Midi mountain. The campsite sits on the edge of town, about a 25-minute walk away. When we visited in late May, the restaurant, pool, shop, and other facilities were closed until 15th June, and only two of the four toilet and shower blocks were open. It felt quite remote with so much shut, though it would be a great campsite once everything is open.

Pauline at reception was very helpful with activity ideas and information, and she speaks good English as well as French. The small restaurant had a limited menu, but the food and service were good. Fresh bread is delivered to reception, and there's free Wi-Fi. The site is out of town, though a free shuttle bus runs there. Our large grass pitch had plenty of room for a 7m caravan and awning, with nice shade from trees along the boundaries. In the boiling heat, the swimming lagoon was a lovely place to cool off, then relax in deckchairs under the umbrellas. A little sandy beach in the mountains!

The lagoon was fantastic, the kids loved it and so did we. Our mobile home was a bit old and worn, but otherwise fine. We used our own cups and glasses because the ones provided were so small.
