Breakfast was a real treat for 11 euros, served on a balcony looking out over the Esterel. I had coffee with milk, a fresh croissant and toasted baguette, house-made preserves, cheese, and orange juice, with cereal, meat, and more also offered. The bathroom felt fairly new, like one you might find in a much pricier hotel. The room was a good size, and its roomy balcony gave me a panoramic view of the forested Esterel mountains. The proprietress was wonderfully helpful. Relais Provencale felt like a rare find, bringing back the quiet, simple rural French hotels I stayed in 30-40 years ago on many trips from the US to the French countryside. It also had an extraordinary value for money, with plenty of French antique wardrobes and classic doors. Highly, highly recommended!

What we wanted was a village with a few small, not-too-touristy restaurants, and there are several in the centre, maybe a 3-5 minute walk away. The views were the highlight. Our balcony was spacious, with room for a little table and two chairs as well as two sun loungers. Watching the sunset or just taking in the panorama after a long day was spectacular. Great service, and the rooms were exceptionally clean.

We stayed four nights and came away feeling refreshed. It’s a peaceful place, family-run and impeccably clean. Our room had a little sitting area, a bathroom, a lovely terrace, and a view of the forest. Breakfasts were very generous, and the owner was friendly but discreet. The hotel is right on the street, and the village restaurants are an easy walk away. Le Bistrot was fantastic. There’s plenty to discover nearby, including lots of beautiful hikes, and the sea is no more than 30 minutes away. We’ll come back when the pool is open. An ideal spot, highly recommended.
