Bastide de l'Ovalie Gites

Nicole and Alain's country house is beautiful and peaceful, with a big garden and a swimming pool. Breakfast was superb, with homemade food. We left wanting to come back.

Breakfast was a real treat. Nicole made everything herself, and it was excellent. The room was lovely and very clean, with a comfortable bed. Alain and Nicole were so attentive, and we owe them a big thank you. I'd happily recommend the place and will definitely return, this time for a longer stay. A real delight.

La Bastide is a beautiful Provençal villa, set in a lovely spot with a wonderful garden and a sublime terrace where breakfast is served. The decor is unique and exquisite, and the whole place feels like a complete change of scenery. The owners' dog is lovely company, too. The price is unbeatable for what you get. Alain and Nicole greeted us with a delicious aperitif of local rosé and other regional products. They're welcoming and convivial, and the generous, homemade breakfasts were a real highlight. It was a pleasure to eat fresh produce, which is becoming rare, if not nonexistent, at other hotels. The rooms are very clean and well cared for, and we felt at home. You can't lock some of the rooms, which may bother some guests, but we felt safe and secure there. One thing to plan for: La Bastide is somewhat far from the coast and other villages, so exploring the area means driving several dozen kilometers each day. We'd definitely return if we get the chance.

It's easier to complain when something goes wrong, so we'll try to be fair about how well everything went. From the warm welcome by the wonderful trio, Woody included, we knew what kind of vacation it would be. The area is beautiful and wonderfully quiet, just what a tired traveler needs. And if you're hungry, there's a royal breakfast waiting to set you up for the day. Go wander around Bagnols-en-Forêt, but make sure you can find your way back here.
