Chateau de BAGNOLS

The view from the terrace is lovely. On a nice-weather day, it's a good spot for coffee or an aperitif if you're nearby. Just keep in mind they only serve aperitifs until 5:45 pm. The wine was good, though I wasn't sure it was worth €16, and the tea was €8.

The gardens were a highlight, with a cherry orchard and vineyards in the distance. I visited in May and had lovely weather. I also enjoyed the spa and pool, though I spent more time relaxing in the manicured grounds and in my large room with its sitting area. On my first evening the restaurant had a limited menu, which disappointed me because I was hoping for the full culinary experience. I waited until the second night and was blown away by an entertaining five-course meal, including pigeon, which I'd never tried before. Breakfast in the chateau's medieval central atrium was very relaxing. Staying here felt romantic and completely captivating. Crossing the moat from the car park and entering the grounds made it feel as if I'd stepped into another time. The restoration is beautiful, while the 800-year-old building still has its own charm. My second-floor room looked over the courtyard, with old beams and a roof lined in beautiful old wood. I drank from silver cups and loved the old oak cupboard tucked behind the bed. The bathroom was quaint, with a throne-style toilet and bidet. It had a bath but no shower, so after swimming I used the shower in the pool area. The staff were charming and accommodating. I was lucky to spend two nights at this remarkable place.

A few years ago I photographed a wedding here, and I still remember the venue. It gave us a full French historical experience, with luxury service.

The food was delicious, and the staff were wonderful and helpful. We brought our 1.5-year-old baby, and they were kind and provided everything we asked for. We came for my wife's birthday, thanks to her for picking this place, and were glad we did. The garden was amazing, and the rooms were spacious and comfortable, with unique decorations. It really felt like stepping into the 18th century. We thought we might get bored at first, but we didn't. We were up at 7 so we could enjoy as much of the place as possible. My wife took all the photos on the spot. Nothing negative to report :)
