Les Mandarins - Gîtes

The room was very clean, and the place itself was lovely. What disappointed us was the welcome. We had chosen a bed and breakfast expecting the friendly, personal feel that goes with that kind of stay, but it felt more like being in a hotel. If that genuine B&B experience is what you're after, you may want to look elsewhere.

The scenery around the B&B was beautiful, and the peaceful setting, thoughtful room, and generous hosts made it feel like an enchanting refuge. Our room was elegantly decorated and really comfortable, with care put into the details. We were greeted with smiles and felt the warm, calm atmosphere as soon as we arrived. We'll definitely come back for our next archery competition.

The grounds are beautiful and clean, and the pool was lovely and warm enough in August. Nicole was friendly and accommodating. Still, it felt more like a hotel where everyone keeps to themselves than a chambre d'hôte. We stayed five nights. The setting is nice, and the room had adequate equipment, but if you book the smallest room, don't expect to relax in it. There's constant noise: the entrance to breakfast and the other rooms is right outside your door, so people returning at midnight or 1 a.m. wake you up. We could hear every step in the room above, and the floorboards creaked loudly. We were woken every night, and when someone walked around all night, as happened to us, we got little or no sleep.

The hostess was so kind and helpful, and her table d'hôtes, the set menu, was a real treat. We had a wonderful stay. The location is great too, less than an hour from the main tourist attractions.
