Gites de Laprade

I was after somewhere calm and relaxed, and this was just right. There’s a lovely view across the lake, plus you can choose a sunny spot or sit in the shade. Good restaurants nearby and supermarkets in bellac. We had a marvellous two weeks. Lovely, I'll be back.

Taunya and Brian made us feel welcome, and the setting around the gite is really lovely. It’s small, but just right for a couple, clean, and has everything you need: kettle, toaster, iron and board, hairdryer, microwave, cooker, and all the utensils.

My husband loved the fishing, and I found a hidden garden where I could spend the day reading in the sunshine. It’s a beautiful, natural, unspoiled little patch away from the main area, where I knew I wouldn’t be disturbed. The owners were friendly and welcoming, and the place itself is beautiful and fairly tranquil. There were quite a few visitors coming and going to see the gite owners while we were there, though, and they’d stop to chat when we were trying to enjoy some peace. My husband didn’t mind, but after a busy few weeks at work, I’d specifically wanted to be left alone. The gite was small, warm and reasonably comfortable. The kitchen setup is basic, with a small fridge, microwave and plug-in electric hob. That’s fine for a few things, but not great if you like cooking or want to make a full meal, so we ate out every night, which wasn’t a bad thing, haha. Still, it’s a lovely place.

We’ve been back a few times because the setting is absolutely lovely. The owners, Taunya and Bri, go out of their way to help with anything you need. Well recommended. If you appreciate my review, please click follow me.
