Bandol feels smaller on the ground than it looks in the satellite view, even when the Thursday Big Market brings extra crowds. Along the harbor there’s a row of restaurants, though none stood out enough for me to mention. Away from the big cities, it’s a good Côte d’Azur choice for a quieter holiday. There are two sandy beaches and small-boulder coves on the western side.

A lovely town to see out the year. It’s a chance to unwind in the winter sunshine, and the town is putting a lot of effort into creating a Christmas atmosphere.
