The garden-facing bedroom windows opened onto flowers and shade, and breakfast was generous enough to keep me going through the day. I spent a peaceful solo stay there with my books, taking a hotel electric bike to visit family elsewhere on the island. The pastel-pink cottage-style buildings around the pool and the blue marine-themed rooms made the place lovely to look at. The hosts were attentive with directions and ideas for things to do, and kept replenishing breakfast until everyone had finished. They also gave me space when I wanted it. The bathrooms were roomier than I expected, and really, the whole place exceeded what I’d pictured. I hope to come back with my husband next summer.

We’d happily return. The staff were all so kind and attentive, and the rooms felt spacious and really comfortable. Breakfast was very good, with lots of thoughtful little details around the hotel too. We loved staying here.

The setup is really nice, and the waiters were so welcoming. The crêpes Suzette are delicious, and the preparation show is worth catching. You can also order a salt-baked fish if you reserve a few days ahead. It sounds delicious.

The wine was okay, though overpriced, and there are much better places to eat in Sauzon. I expected more after seeing the restaurant in the Michelin guide. The place felt pretentious, while the food was average. Their own-label rillettes didn’t measure up to the local kind sold at the market, and the main dishes weren’t anything special. Service fell short too, and our water carafe was never refilled.

We arrived at the very last minute planning to stay one night, then ended up staying three. That probably says it all. Such charming people, and they made everything feel easy. A wonderful place to land when you’re caught in a storm.
