Le Saint Nicolas

We stopped here with our family on the way back to England from Marseille. The online photos of the room looked nice, and the reviews were good, so I booked it. But the decor and furniture were dated, with scuff marks all over the walls and doors. The light switches weren’t properly fixed to the wall either. In the bathroom, black mould was growing on the sealant and some tiles were broken, as shown in the pictures. The shower pressure was so weak I couldn’t wash my hair. I’m unlikely to stay here again.

The hotel is in bad shape, with run-down facilities, and the gate to the pool wouldn’t close. We were also treated badly when we asked if we could keep the rooms longer because of organizational problems. We had to go back and forth using Google Translate. They shouted at us aggressively several times, saying we had to stay in the room until 11:30 a.m. MAXIMUM, and pushed us to hand over the other key right away. We rushed to give it back at 9:30 a.m. A few minutes later, we saw the reception sign saying that 11.30am was the regular check-out time. We were treated badly even though we were checking out early as a gesture of goodwill. That behavior is extremely inappropriate for a hotel. Don’t go there if you want to be treated like a guest by the staff or need to communicate in English.

It’s right in the town centre, with easy parking and an excellent breakfast.

The hotel says it’s smoke-free and offers free parking, but there’s no parking except on the street. That’s a complete misrepresentation of the truth. And for the smoke-free claim, explain that to the large group of people who didn’t speak English, smoking outside our window at 3 am, shouting, swearing and playing music ridiculously loud. Never again. Avoid it if you value your sleep.
