Les Gites Des Isles

We’re hikers, and this place was a real problem for us. One person in our group had their luggage sent by mail. Deliveries had gone smoothly elsewhere, but the owner, whom we notified in the morning, refused to accept it. The driver was there and offered to leave the bag hidden behind a small terrace, so we agreed. When we arrived, it was gone from the spot and the rooms. We couldn’t reach the owner. An empty apartment was parked in front of the spot. Using the key box code, which was similar to all the others, we opened the door and found the bag just behind it. We shut the door and returned the key to the box. After we told the owner we’d found it, they accused us of trespassing instead of being pleased, banned us from leaving our bag the next day, and failed to bring the breakfasts we’d ordered, presumably to punish us. Thankfully, Hôtel des Isles kindly took our luggage. The owner also filed a police report against us. How nice! :-)

Service was handled only by text, which felt very unpleasant, and the breakfasts we ordered never showed up. The rooms are quite small, like a lockbox motel, and the bathrooms have no windows or ventilation. The courtyard and nearby area weren’t very clean.

Our booking was paid in full through Booking, but after we changed the dates, Booking charged a €3.15 change fee. We missed its email because the payment deadline was extremely short, and the reservation was forcibly canceled. That left us losing the full €90 over an unpaid €3.15 fee. We understand Booking handled the transaction. Still, when we contacted the owner, they seemed unwilling to help and blamed Booking, even though they’ll collect our reservation without hesitation. It’s hard to assert our rights when the platform is impossible to contact, but we would have appreciated a gesture or an amicable resolution from the owner. We’ll avoid both Booking and this cottage now.

The beach and large stretch of sand are right nearby, and it doesn’t feel overly touristy. I stayed for one night in a room with a shower and toilet, plus a microwave and coffee machine. There’s a shared terrace where you can eat. It works for a getaway, though I wouldn’t choose it for a short family holiday. The little Sunday morning market was the highlight.
