Our stay at the VVF Vendes was a bad experience. The chalets and their equipment are outdated, and sometimes equipment is missing altogether. One of the two chalets we booked had no oven. The microwave looked like it belonged to someone's grandmother in the 1980s. A leaking toilet left a slight urine smell in the bathroom; we reported it, it was barely noted in a notebook, and nothing more came of it. The booking system was a disaster, so we couldn't have half-board dinner, even though it could have served 150 people. That wasn't a huge loss: breakfast was meager, with no pain au chocolat or croissants left to get, and they were frozen anyway. We couldn't help chuckling when told we were "lucky" to have beds made and towels provided, since that's not usually included. The team is dedicated, though, and the limited entertainment partly made up for the stay. I hope things improve.

The reception staff are very pleasant and accommodating, and the location is both quiet and well-situated. The issue is the room-style accommodation. Signs tell guests to watch their heating use, but the doors and windows have no double glazing, and the electric heaters are outdated 1980s-style toasters. Modernization is urgently needed.

The rooms are spacious and functional, with high-quality bedding, and the resort sits in beautiful natural surroundings. VVF is in an impeccable spot, close to all the tourist attractions. We rented this for the Pastourelle race, with the starting point in Salers about a 30-minute drive away. The setting is quiet and the scenery magnificent. The accommodation is quite old and wasn't clean, with cobwebs and dirty floors. Fine for a trail-running weekend, but I wouldn't stay longer.
