Hôtel Bonaparte

The rooms are nothing fancy, but they were very clean, which matters a lot to me. Breakfast was good as well, and everything there was tidy and in order. You get what you pay for. Thanks 😊

We missed our ferry and couldn't reach Bastia by check-in, but took the overnight ferry and arrived at 08:30. The room was still in our name and checkout wasn't until 11, so we politely asked if we could use it briefly to shower and change. Both women were very off-putting and unhelpful. At one point, one of them laughed and spoke in French, as if our request made no sense. I understand there are policies, but guests shouldn't be ridiculed. A little empathy matters so much in hospitality.

The room is very basic, and the bed is quite small. For parking near the hotel, it may be worth waiting until the evening ferries have left. After 9-10 pm there are many more spaces, and even paid parking is free overnight until 8 am.

The staff made our short stay feel especially welcoming. We got there well before our two rooms for four were ready, but they let us freshen up for the beach and offered complimentary coffee and other drinks. Later, the receptionist even chilled our wine and brought glasses and a corkscrew. The rooms at Hotel Bonaparte are simple and not large, but they suited us, and one had a little balcony. Breakfast came with breads, croissants, yoghurt, fruit, and delicious homemade local fig jam. Nothing seemed too much trouble, and we left with a very positive impression. Thank you.
