Sud Hotel

We stayed here for one night before our morning ferry, and it worked really well. The ferry terminal is only five minutes away, there’s dedicated parking, and they serve breakfast early. The location is good, the service was excellent, and it was very good value for money.

The garden dining spaces are a real treat, with tropical and Mediterranean plants on both the rooftop, reached by a spiral staircase, and in the easy-to-reach courtyard. The landscaping and trellises create lots of tucked-away spots for sitting alone or with a group. Families with young children seem to enjoy it here, and the customer service is quite good. Breakfast is good too, with yogurt, fromage, sliced ham, croissants, hard-boiled eggs, cereal and good coffee. I was especially taken with the photos on the bedroom walls. They show local views of Bastia that you don’t normally come across, and the hotel’s support for local artists is clear. The hotel has been renovated and is centrally located in Bastia. Not every room has been fully remodeled yet, but they’ve made an effort to give each bedroom beauty with its lovely decor. It’s a lovely place to come back to.

Nice rooms, friendly staff and a bar with plenty of local beers. Breakfast tasted good, though it was mostly sweet. If you leave the windows open, street noise can get pretty loud in the morning. My room also had a sewage smell, and the internet was very slow.

There’s a large car park, which matters a lot in Bastia, and the rooms are clean and comfortable. Everyone working at Sud Hotel was friendly and professional. It’s also in a great spot for the city center and port. After trying several hotels, I now stay here every time I come to Corsica.
