Le Balcon des Cimes

We never got to see the room, so I can’t comment on it. The homestay is fairly remote, at least a 15 minute drive from the nearest shops and restaurants. We booked and paid through Expedia on the day, then arrived at 3pm and learned that check in was at 5pm. We’d been driving for hours and asked to check in early, but were told the previous guests were still there, even though checkout was listed as 10.30am. That didn’t make sense to us. We drove to the nearest town and found a great hotel. The correspondence from this place wasn’t very friendly, and they cancelled our stay even though we’d paid in full and arrived. We received no refund and also lost the Expedia points. The whole experience felt unfriendly and unhelpful, and cancelling a paid booking seemed a little dishonest.

We chose a three day break in the Pyrenees for some nice hikes and a break from lockdown pressures in Eastern France, where we live. We didn’t know the area, and Cécilia’s advice was spot on. She made a perfect breakfast each morning and pointed us to places where we could get takeaway dinners during Covid. The room was thoughtfully arranged and spotless, and the accommodation was just right. After a hard day walking, the spacious shower and rush of hot water were very welcome. For me, a small hotel or guest house depends on both the quality of the stay and the welcome, and Le Balcon des Cimes delivered on both. I’m writing in English because English visitors often come to this part of France. The high standard here should suit visitors from abroad who want to see this beautiful region.

The hosts were so welcoming and friendly. We had a gorgeous B&B stay in a superb location, with everything spotlessly clean and modern. Breakfast was to die for. First class!

The room was lovely and cozy, though it was still under construction. Cecilia was very sweet and helpful.
