Les Troglos De Beaulieu

The garden outside was fabulous, and the wood cabin is wonderfully themed around nature. I fell in love with it. The decor throughout the cabin and garden has lovely attention to detail, and the bed was very comfortable. My brother and I stayed at this idyllic place on 3rd april and had a really great time. The very kind owner welcomed us and explained everything in detail. You could tell he was passionate about his work. In the morning, a helpful lady treated us to a fantastic breakfast and gave us useful information about the castles of the loire we planned to visit. If I come back to that part of France, I’d absolutely stay here again. I highly recommend it!

The ancient cave is genuinely cool and full of history, and that was what we were looking for. The hostess was nice and multilingual, and she knew a lot about the region’s history. I also appreciated her restaurant suggestion, although when we found the place it was far beyond our budget. Still, I was pretty disappointed to end our trip here, and I’d only stay one night. There’s a feeling of scarcity. When I asked about internet, I was told the thick walls made it impossible and that I’d need to go to the tourist office in the next village in the morning. I wondered why they couldn’t have it outside, since they obviously do everything on the internet. I also asked if I could put a couple of yogurts in the refrigerator so they wouldn’t spoil, but was told it was too small. When I asked for a drain plug, I was told they no longer provide them because guests had taken so many. Each time, I heard that I should ask if I needed anything, which didn’t feel very helpful. Breakfast was fine, but not abundant. I’d stayed all over France, and this was the least offered anywhere, despite being billed as a B and B. They only let you in between 5:30 and 7:30. We waited around, and saw other people do that too. There’s no lobby, and you have to get in for breakfast and then leave, with no lingering. I host people too, and a bit of inconvenience comes with the job. I was also annoyed that payment had to be in cash, not by credit card, though it was my fault for not noticing the policy. By then I felt kind of ripped off. The bathroom could use a curtain for privacy in a shared room, and the linens and furnishings were slightly dated IKEA. The place is interesting enough for a night in an ancient cave, but I wouldn’t stay longer.

We were left without a room for the night after arriving 30 minutes late for very important reasons. The owner didn’t answer the phone and wasn’t responsive. I would not recommend this place to anyone. Edited: 2019/06/24, in response to the owner’s message below. I’m rating the service and the rooms we weren’t given. I wanted to give zero stars, but that wasn’t an option. It’s strange how quickly the place responds to negative comments compared with the lack of response during what happened. We called the owner several times during check-in hours and got no answer. You confirmed this to Booking. Since the owner wasn’t responding, we sent an SMS asking them to wait and continued our trip, as we hadn’t heard back and had no other way to act. Thanks for noticing the pictures, by the way. I hope you enjoyed them while ignoring our messages and calls. Communication was only possible through Booking because the owner refused to speak directly during those hours. Later, the phone was turned off. You didn’t respond to Facebook messages or the other phone numbers we found online either. That adds up to extremely poor communication and zero flexibility. It felt like money was being made simply by sticking to strict policies, without providing any service. I’m sure we’re not the first or last, so I wanted to warn everyone.
