We loved every minute of the tasting Louisa led. She was excellent, thank you, Louisa! ❤️🫶🏼🍷

We went for a walk around the domaine, which took us about 40-60 minutes depending on pace. It was lovely, though the paths may be wet early in the morning. Our package also included a look around the wine cave, an introduction to the cépages grown at Soucherie, and a tasting. We know Chenin from elsewhere in Val de Loire, and thought the Chenin based wines at Soucherie were among the best we’ve tried. You can see which cépages go into the different wines on the château's website boutique. We stayed on April 24 & 25 during a tour of western Val de Loire, south of Angers. Our room, Chambre Chaume, was on the first floor of the maison des amis, in the domaine grounds beside the château. It was comfortable, well equipped, and had a great view of the domain. Breakfast was good and set us up well for a day out. There’s a small kitchen if you want to prepare dinner, or several restaurants within a 4 to 20 km drive. We ate out the first evening, then picked up local produce in Saumur for dinner the next night, with local wine. Château Soucherie B&B is a very nice place to stay and visit. The staff were friendly and capable, and we’re glad we came.

The staff were all great, and we had a lovely time tasting the wine. The vineyard is beautiful, the rooms are comfortable, and breakfast was great. Nearby places to eat are limited, so consider bringing a picnic dinner. There’s a full kitchen.

Breakfast was top notch, and the rooms were really nice. I’d expected to stay in the castle, but our room was in a separate building next to the chateau. Some staff were more welcoming than others, and the rooms can’t be locked.

Such a unique experience in a very special part of the world. The wine tour was relaxing and really informative. I hope to come back someday...
