Hôtel Belle Epoque

The room was beautiful and very spacious, but it was freezing cold at night. We used the air conditioner for heat as instructed, and still couldn't get warm. There wasn't a kettle for tea or coffee either, which would be a useful addition. The breakfast was delicious, but charged separately. Since this isn't a cheap hotel, it would be nice if breakfast were included. At checkout, expect extra charges for city tax, parking and breakfast on top of the room price. Parking is secured and costs 8 euro per night. The location is good, about 2 min from the city center, with plenty of places to eat nearby. Service was professional and friendly. Not a bad choice, but there's room to improve.

Right in the centre of lovely Beaune, this worked well for an overnight stop, or longer if your liver and wallet can handle it. The hotel is nicely laid out and seems popular with older tourists, me included. Rooms were clean and well appointed, with no issues, and the friendly staff were helpful. For the service, it was relatively inexpensive.

When we visited on a weekend, there were no taxis available. We could have walked the 10 mins to the station or taken a bus, but the staff kindly drove us there. That says a lot about their service. They also knew the town well and were enthusiastic with advice on food, drinks and places to visit. The courtyard is beautiful, and breakfast was fresh and high quality. Our room was very clean, quiet and gigantic by today's standards. It's old style, so don't expect the latest design or tech. I'd absolutely recommend staying here.

The hotel bar was a great spot, and the staff were genuinely service minded. It felt like a very authentic hotel. Five stars, we'll be back!
