The staff were responsive, friendly and incredibly helpful all the way from booking to checkout. The Slanted Door being available for dinner was a lovely bonus. Our large room was well appointed, and the bathroom was massive, with a huge shower, double sinks, soaking tub and separate water closet. Maison 1896 has been beautifully renovated, with modern luxuries alongside its historic charm. It was a highlight of our multi-city trip and exceeded expectations. If you're staying in Beaune, look no further. It's a shame there are a handful of 1-star reviews from one disgruntled guest and their friends or family, who couldn't grasp the obvious fact that expensive alcohol isn't free to self-serve at breakfast.

Maison 1896 is an upscale hotel, but still relaxed and welcoming. It added a lot to our Burgundy trip, and we'd definitely return. The location is prime, with everything in town within easy walking distance. Staff were consistently helpful with restaurant and sightseeing suggestions, and even helped us get a dinner reservation. The building mixes its history with modern comforts really well and feels high quality and well maintained. Our room was spacious, spotlessly clean and comfortable, with a great bed and quality amenities. It made a perfect base after long days exploring Beaune and the vineyards. Service at check-in was efficient and genuinely friendly. No hesitation in recommending it.

The location was perfect for exploring Beaune, and the property is beautiful, clean, comfortable and has excellent amenities. What made our stay even better was the service. Meghann helped us plan every detail of our time in Burgundy, Benjamin and Alex at the front desk were kind and accommodating, and the Slanted Door team welcomed us for a lovely dinner. Thank you to everyone at Maison 1896 for making the trip so excellent. I'll absolutely stay here again on my next trip to Burgundy.

What made the stay for me was the feeling that the friendly staff genuinely looked after us in this charming corner of Burgundy. That, along with the tangible details, means I can't imagine returning to Beaune without staying at Maison 1896. It would be a catastrophe. The location is unbeatable, and the rooms are sleek and full of amenities while still having character. Each detail of our experience was attended to. The complimentary morning spread of bread, cheeses and jams redefined continental breakfast for me. I could have sat under a tree for two days eating the homemade apricot jam like Winnie-the-Pooh and the trip would have been worth it. This review is long overdue and well deserved. If you can stay here, there's no decision to make.

The homemade sweets left each night were a treat, and when we departed they gave us the loveliest Christmas cookies. I almost didn't want to eat them. Our larger room had luxurious sheets and a beautiful bathroom. It's a beautiful new hotel in the centre of Beaune, with incredible service and staff. Get a room overlooking the square. Great value, highly recommended.
