10/10
The suites work well for us when we’re travelling with the children: they’re spacious, clean, and practical, with notably comfortable beds. We keep returning to Mercure Beaune Centre as a dependable stop on our usual drive to Tignes. Beaune remains a favourite, and this hotel makes a reliable base. Access is easy and there’s plenty of parking, which is welcome after a long drive. Reception is efficient and genuinely friendly. The restaurant on site is handy if you arrive late, and breakfast has good quality food with enough choice to set you up for the road. Climate control is a little imprecise, with a simple dial instead of a temperature setting. There’s no gym at the hotel, though a Basic-Fit is a five-minute drive away. It’s a comfortable, practical stop that makes the journey easier.

The hotel is clean and modern, and the rooms are nice with all the amenities. Breakfast is fine, but I’d stay away from the restaurant otherwise. The menu was strange. They called it local cuisine, but it definitely wasn’t, with burgers, curried prawns, tuna, and the like. I lost the whole meal down the toilet afterwards 🤮

The room was spacious, clean, and really comfortable, and there’s plenty of parking. We had a good welcome and found the hotel easy to reach. The walk into the centre takes under 10 minutes, just right for walking off supper. We enjoyed an aperitif at the bar, and breakfast was the usual excellent Mercure standard, with lots of local produce, one of the highlights.

It’s a calm, quiet spot, yet only a few minutes’ walk from the city centre, and the breakfast is great. There’s also a large, convenient parking lot. Hotel Mercure Beaune Centre is often fully booked when I look for a room, which makes sense: if you can get one, it’s easily the best option in town. A very reliable, comfortable choice in Beaune.

We spent three nights at the hotel, and after an otherwise decent stay, one request left a very poor impression. One evening we asked the night shift manager for toothbrushes. She said there were none in stock, flatly refused to provide any, blamed housekeeping, and added that she “doesn’t care anyhow.” That dismissive, rude response was completely unnecessary for such a simple request. Toothbrushes are a standard amenity. Future guests should know that night service may not be reliable even for basic items. I hope the hotel addresses staff training and guest care.
