Grand Hôtel Du Tonneau D'Or

The location is great, and parking has cameras, though the lot is still accessible from the main road. The room sizes were fine, even the cheapest type, and the air conditioning worked okay. The hotel has some lovely features, including the entrance and several stained-glass windows, but it feels quirky and a bit ramshackle, especially the elevator. Breakfast was very unassuming. The staff seemed friendly on arrival, but not at breakfast or checkout. We speak French quite fluently, and when we checked out using the machine, it simply showed the amount due without even an automated message. I've been in the region occasionally, but I'll look for another place to stay next time.

The hotel is right in the middle of Belfort and has a few parking spots in its courtyard, including charging. The rooms have been nicely renovated, and the breakfast room and buffet are spacious, with very tasty food. The reception is staffed around the clock. There are also three fridges where you can buy wine and water to drink. A bar and restaurant next door looks good. It isn't part of the hotel anymore, but they are partners and there's a direct door.

I've stayed in many Belfort hotels over the last 15 years, and this is the one I prefer when I'm in town. It's a superb traditional hotel in a central spot, with lovely staff and great amenities. The grand staircase greets you at the entrance, and the decor is quirky throughout. My room was comfortable and practical, with a bath.

The rooms are clean and the beds are okay, but this isn't the fancy hotel they seem to want it to be. Breakfast could use more variety, and there are no gluten-free options. Staff could also be friendlier.
