Maison Bellachonne

We were stranded by car trouble and Craig and Shirani took us in at very short notice. They gave us a warm welcome, comfortable rooms in a lovely house, and a great breakfast. Thank you.

We found Maison Bellachonne just right for our two nights in Bellac. The rooms were very spacious, and the bed was extremely comfortable. Fresh, delicious breakfast, just as described. The one thing I’d change is having tea and coffee in the room instead of the reception lounge. Craig and Shirani were great hosts. Craig suggested a few local places to eat, including a lovely little bar by the river with a perfect setting. We’d recommend staying here.

The hosts are charming and very helpful, and the accommodation is excellent. They can also provide evening dinners if you book ahead. Bellac itself isn’t especially memorable, though it’s handy for Mortemart, one of the Plus Beaux Villages de France, and Montrol-Senard, whose delightful old school houses an excellent museum.

From the road between Poitiers and Limoges, Bellac makes a pretty village stop, and this B&B is a real gem. The frontage doesn’t give much away, but inside there’s a characterful, beautiful house and a particularly lovely artisan oak staircase. The hosts were very helpful, and the rooms were clean and well furnished. Highly recommended.
