After a day out on the region's beautiful hiking trails, it was lovely to come back to a cozy common room, play board games, and browse the library. The dinners were delicious without being overly fancy, and the owners were so friendly and helpful with suggestions for walks and places to see. We'll definitely return.

The healthy breakfast was a highlight, and I looked forward to dinner every night. I spent a week here with my hiking friends from the West of Ireland, and the food, staff, and mountain atmosphere were all excellent. Antoine and his team made us feel like family, and nothing was too much trouble. I'd happily recommend the hotel to my friends.

The owner was so kind and accommodating, and the whole place had a lovely, peaceful feel. We had books and games to enjoy in the nice hall or out on the back terrace. The bathtub was especially welcome after a day, and made for a really relaxing stay. Thank you.

After five days here, we left with a real feeling of peace and goodwill, from the Gordolasque river all the way to the Mediterranean. The rooms were bright and clean, and the shared spaces for dining and relaxing felt cozy. We loved the terrace views and the thoughtful, delicious meals prepared with care by chef 👨🍳 Denis and the team. Our hosts were so welcoming and helpful. It felt like home, and we appreciated all the work put into this special place.

Antoine was wonderfully welcoming and flexible while we planned the trip and throughout the week. Our 21 hill walkers from Maumturks Walking Club ( Ireland) had a stay we'll never forget at l’hôtel du Grand Capelet. The meals and packed lunches were delicious and healthy, and it was a great place to relax in the evenings or on a rainy day after hiking. Antoine also arranged a live music evening that began on the terrasse, plus a half-day conference about the wolf in Mercantour, followed by a lovely buffet. We had a wonderful week and will recommend the hotel to other walking groups in Ireland, where Mercantour is still little known but well worth hiking. Merci pour tout Antoine on behalf of all of us at Maumturks Walking Club.
