The place has so much history and character, and Paul has renovated the castle to a really high standard while keeping its charm. We were made to feel completely welcome and treated like kings, with nothing being too much trouble. I stayed for a work trip, and the week was all the better for it. It's an unforgettable place, and I'd love to come back and see what Paul does next with the hotel.

The owner was so friendly and welcoming, and we felt lucky to spend a weekend in this historic place. The castle is magnificent, and the listed park has a magical feel. Renovation is still underway, and it's a huge project. We wish him courage with it and would happily come back to see how it develops.

It seems the place opened before it was ready. There's no sign when you arrive, and inside the castle looks dilapidated and poorly maintained. The paint smell in the room was unbearable, there were insects everywhere, and the room wasn't particularly well-appointed. You can't come and go alone at night, either. You have to call the owner to let you in. If you do get out, the nearest store is at least a 20-minute drive away. The atmosphere felt very oppressive. Nothing is wrong with this place, except that it opened too early for me. One star because zero isn't an option.

I only visited, I didn't stay, but it's an amazing place. I definitely would have loved to spend the night there.
