Le Cairn Chambres & Table d'hôtes

We came in after dark, then woke up to fresh snow and stunning scenery. From the house, we hiked up the hill to a little Medieval chapel, with incredible snowy views along the way. Le Cairn was such a lovely mountain haven that we almost wished the snow had trapped us there longer! Dinner was delicious, three lovingly prepared courses with local wine. We also loved curling up in the cosy living room by the fire with a glass of wine. We’ll definitely return.

The owners are really friendly, and the food is great. It’s also a handy spot for exploring all of the Champsaur and the eastern edge of the Ecrins. The building, rooms, and dining room are really nice.

The meal was divine. I tried to make the sweet potato soup at home, but couldn’t get anywhere near the one I had there. Breakfast was just as good, and the host gave us excellent tips for walks nearby. We had a wonderful night at Le Cairn, with a warm welcome from pleasant hosts and a cosy mountain feel. The rooms were spotless and very pretty. I think we’ll be back, and I’d highly recommend it.

The room was charming and comfortable, with bedding worthy of a luxury hotel and impeccable cleanliness. We had a very pleasant stay at Gîte du Cairn. Amélie is a wonderful cook, and Olivier is passionate about the mountains and gives great hiking advice for his region. They’re both incredibly attentive and helpful. Go there, you won’t be disappointed.
