Au Bon Abri

The owners were lovely and welcoming, and we had a very pleasant stay. The room was a little small, and the TV was about the size of a mobile screen. Breakfast cost €8, which felt expensive for what was offered. At those prices, I expected better.

Being so close to the sea was a real plus. We got a very warm welcome, and the room was clean, though a little small. The bed was the only issue for taller people, as it wasn't long enough.

I won't stay here again. For what was provided, this hotel felt far too expensive, with too few amenities and poor hygiene. The room was cramped, the view wasn't great, and although we'd booked and paid for a refrigerator, there wasn't one in our room. There were just two towels, when a hotel usually provides three, and the room and breakfast room were so crowded it was hard to get between the chairs. There's no elevator either, and check-out at 10:30 am felt much too early, especially since reception wouldn't hold our luggage. We weren't allowed to leave bags there at any other time, either. Breakfast ran from 8 am to 10 am, which didn't work well if you wanted to get up early or sleep in. There were no plates, so we ate from trays, which obviously weren't washed like plates in a dishwasher, or from cup saucers. The breakfast was small, and we had to ask for some missing items. Most products were fresh, but some more perishable food, including cheese, was expired. The manager was rather unfriendly, so it was hard to feel at ease asking for things, even though she did accommodate some requests. The hotel was cheap, impractical and unwelcoming. I did appreciate the little disposable paper slippers and toothbrush kit, and its fairly central location. Prices are better if you book directly with the hotel rather than through Booking.com, so contacting the managers directly is best. This stay wasn't right for me, though it might suit someone else. A hotel can always improve.

The room worked perfectly for three and was clean, comfortable and quiet. We were close to both the seafront and the city center, and breakfast was very good. We enjoyed our stay so much I'm torn between recommending this address and keeping it to myself.
