The Originals City, Hotel de Bordeaux, Bergerac center

The pool was a real blessing when the temperature hit 43 degrees at one point. The hotel itself was clean and comfortable, and the staff were helpful and very polite. It’s right in the middle of everything you could need during your stay. The Port is great on certain days, with music, dancing, and street food, and Bergerac Wine Tours made for a fabulous day out. Our room was cool and comfortable, pet friendly, and the AC worked perfectly. The hotel is in a lovely central spot, with a pool outside and private parking. We arrived on a very hot Saturday, and reception gave us useful advice about leaving the car in the free shaded local parking. They let us relax in the garden while we waited for our room after a lovely lunch in the beautiful old city centre, and the receptionist offered to keep our laptop and other things in the office while we went into town. Later we had an early evening swim and a beer in the pretty garden before heading out for the fête de musique. A lovely city, a great hotel, and polite, helpful staff.

Stayed one night on my motorcycle. The town is easy to get to from here, and breakfast was excellent, though expensive. The coffee machine uses capsules. My room’s AC didn’t work, and the rooms aren’t soundproof at all. Secure parking is available for another charge, but it isn’t covered, and we weren’t allowed to use the large garage type building. Hotels really need to understand what tourists on motorcycles need. Average overall.

We had a warm welcome, and the hotel was bright and very clean. We were travelling as a couple with our grandchild and got a very spacious room on the first floor. There’s a lift, and I think the hotel only has two floors. The room was airy and had toiletries. Breakfast is optional; we booked it, and the continental spread had a good selection. The staff spoke English very well, which helped with our poor French. They arranged our airport transfer and stored our luggage for our late flight. I hadn’t expected such good weather, so the lovely pool, sunbeds, and seating area were a happy surprise. There was also a lovely seating area that I’m sure would be welcome in summer. It’s close to everything in Bergerac, and they have private parking if you arrive by car. A great hotel.
