The town is beautiful, and everyone we met there was so friendly. We were grateful for that after our car broke down about 5 km before the Dunkirk car ferry, leaving us with nowhere to spend the night. The hotel staff were lovely, the room was spotless, and the next day one of them helped us a great deal by calling a French towing company and translating for us.

We only wished we could have stayed longer. We were on our way to Lille and, after the local tourist information office pointed us here, found a lovely little hotel in a very pretty town. Our modern room was spotless, the shower was great, and the bed was extremely comfortable, though the pillows weren't quite as good. We had dinner in the restaurant when we got back, and it was sensational: beautifully presented, delicious food and just the right atmosphere. The staff were very friendly, if a little laid back when we arrived. A real gem.

The noise eventually stopped just after 1 a.m., but the drunk people outside lingered for what felt like ages. Then, when we opened the window around 4:30 a.m., light came straight in. There were no curtains, just an inside shutter that couldn't be closed with the window open. We'd booked months ahead for one night in mid-June, after taking the Dover to Dunkirk ferry. We'd already travelled eight hours and still had six more to go, so we needed somewhere to rest. We couldn't park near the hotel because barriers had been set up across the roads. After walking from the town square, we were told a rock concert was happening outside the hotel. I asked when it would finish and was told 1 a.m. We were given room keys and assured the room should be quiet because of the building next door. That wasn't true. The room was just as noisy, and we were on the top floor where it was 32 degrees. I tried to use the air conditioner, but it wouldn't work, so I called reception. They said, “it's only June” and that they don't switch them on until later in the year. It was the hottest day of the year so far. Keeping the window shut wasn't an option because of the rock music outside, and keeping it open brought in the noise. They emailed me about the disruption some days later, but the email had actually been sent on the same day we stayed. Great notice. In the morning I paid the bill and refused the £22 breakfast. I didn't want to give them a penny more than I had to. Very poor customer service and planning, with customers told too late to make other arrangements. Of all the hotels on our European road trip, this was by far the worst.

Spent Friday and Saturday in April here. The town was nice, and so were the people. The bar was good, with a reasonably priced menu.

I was here for work for ten days, and needed internet for work and other things. There was none, even though the website says internet is available. The site also listed parking, but there wasn't any. I had to circle the streets hoping to find a space. My company had already booked and paid, otherwise I would have left immediately. When I tried to discuss the situation with who was probably the owner, she seemed confused and wouldn't listen to me. The room was small and uncomfortable. I don't recommend this hotel. You pay a lot and get nothing.
