Bergeveaux

We spent a fantastic week here with our two children, who were 4 months and 4 years old. Our chalet was comfortable, private, and very well equipped, and the hearty breakfasts were great. There’s a heated pool, farm animals, and an outdoor play area for children, while the cottage itself is a lovely place to unwind. The hosts are friendly and helpful, and there are plenty of little villages and towns to explore nearby. If you’re after quiet and nature, don’t hesitate to book at Bergeveaux.

We stayed in April 2023 and had a fantastic time. Breakfast came to the chalet, with lots of variety and generous portions. The chalet itself was spotless, well equipped, and had magnificent mountain views. The owners made us feel incredibly welcome. Dinner was à la carte and absolutely delicious, with presentation worthy of a top chef 😊. Sophie and Pascal highly recommend this accommodation.

The best parts were the lovely view, clean rooms, and chances to relax around the B&B. The dogs are welcome throughout the property, including the restaurant, so it seems a particularly good choice if you’re bringing a pet. We stayed eight days as a family of two adults and three children under 12, in family room Bo, with one shared upstairs bedroom, a living room, and an outdoor terrace. The cottage felt outdated. There was no air conditioning, the kitchen was poorly equipped, and without a washbasin we had to do dishes in the bathroom sink. A microwave would have been useful too. Wi-Fi didn’t work about 80% of the time, though 4G coverage was reasonably good. What really took away from the stay was how strict the hostess was with our children: no bare feet outside, no jumping in the pool, no standing on our own floating equipment in the pool, and no playing foosball or darts by themselves. It was a shame. I’d recommend the place to people on holiday without young children.

The family room Bo was comfortable and clean, with good beds and a clean bathroom, though it got very warm. There was no air conditioning, just one standing fan for the four of us. The man of the house made an excellent breakfast, the view was beautiful, and the animals around the house were lovely and well cared for. Our arrival was a letdown. We’d driven 11 hours with our two children, aged 12 and 11, and got there half an hour early. We were told straight away that we were early, without even a greeting. We understood that the room wasn’t ready, but weren’t able to relax elsewhere on the grounds either. There was no welcome or offer of a drink. Instead, we were sent back to the car and told to go to the nearest village, then return about half an hour later. It felt very unusual and not hospitable. When we came back, the children went straight to the pool, where the owner was swimming. She immediately told them to be considerate of her, not to jump or scream. We’d said before being sent away that we wanted dinner. At 7:00 PM in the restaurant area, we found out payment was cash only. The owner said this was noted everywhere, but we couldn’t find that information. It would have helped to know before going to the village so we could withdraw money then. She asked whether we’d go back to get cash now or the next morning. We said no, since we’d just been there and had to travel the next day. We could have transferred the dinner cost to the B&B account, but no other option was offered, so we couldn’t join the meal. The owner said, "then it's over." The view is breathtaking, but I think this B&B suits people without young children better. Unfortunately, the owners aren’t flexible.
