F1 Besancon Ouest Micropolis

I had to spend two hours looking around town for WiFi so I could book somewhere for my next stay. The reception guy smiled and said the WiFi had only just gone down, but earlier guest reviews suggest it had been out for months. Asking for cash payment also raises questions, and it feels like the manager cuts costs wherever possible. The room taps were loose and moved in every direction. The floor was so moldy I didn't want to use the bath, and the toilets and bath looked as though staff might not have cleaned them for weeks, if at all. The ruined pipes seemed to show that the automatic cleaning system had been broken for months. I've never stayed in a hotel this dirty.

I can put up with a lot and I'm not a demanding guest, but this was the worst hotel I've ever experienced. There was mold everywhere, a strong stench, and absolute filth. I had to run out after ten minutes and am trying to get a refund by email. At 40 euros a night, this is hard to understand. Maybe at two euros it would find guests. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone, not even my worst enemy, and it isn't suitable even as free accommodation for people in need.

I've stayed in lots of F1 hotels over the past 25 years, and this one is a disgrace to what F1 is supposed to be, a simple but clean motel. Everything seemed neglected. The place looked bad and smelled terrible, including the toilets and shower. The sheets had stains of all colors and sizes, and the room smelled of smoke. There were no curtains. The location and, to some extent, the kind staff seem to have boosted the 2.3 average rating. We slept in our clothes, then washed at a truck stop after leaving. That was much better than touching anything there. It needs to close and reopen after a refurbishment with new management.

Basic and cheap, and a great place to stop over if you're visiting the University.
