l'Oustaou B&B Piscine & Spa

A jacuzzi, a charming village, and everything close by made this just right for a weekend break. I felt pampered during my stay at L'Oustaou. I'd recommend it for a retreat or a romantic weekend, and I'd happily recommend this guesthouse in general. Perfect! And hello to the chickens!

The grounds were beautifully laid out and decorated, and the room and bathroom were clean. Breakfast was carefully prepared every day. Fanny is just as I remember her, warm, sunny, and passionate.

I was taking my daughter, who had been seriously assaulted and was still deeply traumatized, to her first appointment with a therapist specializing in criminology and psychotraumatology. I was given the address Impasse de l’Oustaou, but my GPS mistakenly brought me to the neighboring L’Oustaou bed and breakfast. I later learned that before working from this unusual office, the therapist had worked in tourist accommodation. Fanny, who greeted me at the bed and breakfast, was cold, unpleasant, and showed no empathy. She wouldn't give me any information or point out where the office was, even though it was about 50 meters farther along the same dead-end street. The therapist told me she had no sign for her business because her neighbor wouldn't let her put one up. I can't comment on the accommodation itself because I never stayed there. I'm talking about how I was treated at a moment when it mattered. As a mother trying to find help for a traumatized child, I didn't expect a barrier in a place serving holiday guests. The reviews describe the host as “smiling, attentive, and caring,” and talk about a commercial welcome. I mean a basic human connection, with nothing to sell or gain. I saw none of that. Refusing to direct someone seeking support for a victim, when it takes no effort, costs nothing, and sells no service, isn't just a lack of information. It's a lack of judgment. I hope the person involved reads this and understands that pointing someone toward a place isn't being “at their service.” It's basic human and social intelligence. Emotional intelligence isn't a slogan to use at breakfast or in a jacuzzi to earn five stars. It shows in moments when there's nothing to sell and nothing to gain, just a direction to give. Today, in this dead end, both literally and figuratively, I learned one thing: being closed off isn't strength. Empathy, common sense, and mutual support will always be more reliable signs of human intelligence.

The gîte was quiet and peaceful, a good place to unwind, and the price was excellent: around €40 per person per night, including a very good breakfast. The host was friendly and helpful, gave us a warm welcome, and was always ready with suggestions for nice places to visit. It’s well placed for exploring, with charming villages and sights within 20 minutes and the sea about 40 minutes away. We highly recommend it and hope to come back. One small downside: air conditioning in the bedroom would be a real plus.
