Au Grand Bonheur

We were surprised by how quickly we felt at home. The other guests were lovely, the people were fantastic, and the food was delicious. It’s a beautiful area too. Such a warm welcome, highly recommended. We miss you and will definitely be back.

Luc is a good cook and always manages to serve something tasty, so dinner was fine. But we expected more from the place. The rooms are small, and the bathroom fixtures are dated and damaged. The pool was a pleasant depth, though it needed maintenance: the edges were sharp and the paint rubbed off. The patio tiles around it were a poor choice too, very slippery under wet feet. The honesty bar was very expensive, about pub prices, and we weren’t allowed to bring our own drinks into the rooms, not even water. There were so many rules that our stay became unpleasant. I also felt the hostess could have stayed more in the background so guests could keep chatting among themselves.

Karine and Luc know the region well and gave us useful tips, including directions to places worth seeing. There’s a pool for sports enthusiasts, good bicycles to rent, and Karine leads a pétanque tournament in the early evening. The rooms are spacious, beautiful, and tidy, with everything needed close at hand. We felt at home from the first second thanks to their warm welcome. Karine handles breakfast, and in the evening you can join Luc and sous-chef Belle for dinner. The full meal, from aperitifs and snacks through dessert, coffee, and wine, was delicious and very reasonably priced. Highly recommended!

The room being checked each day was a nice touch, and the owners were so pleasant. We got great tips for excursions, enjoyed delicious food, and had wonderful company in stunning surroundings. What an experience, a TOP vacation I’d happily repeat. Congratulations Karin and Luk, and thanks for everything.
