Hotel Marbella

The room was nice, and you’re close to the beach, shops and restaurants. Noise from the neighbours was the one drawback, since sound carries easily through the hotel. That seemed to be down to the other guests, though. Otherwise, a solid place to stay.

The rooms offer no soundproofing, and we woke to banging and drilling from the building next door at 8am. Staff knew about the noise but didn’t seem to care, leaving us to deal with the headache. If they know work will start that early, they shouldn’t put guests in those rooms. Resting should be a basic part of the service, and we couldn’t do that here. Staff were rude, shouted at us, and spoke only French. The towels were tiny and thin, and there were just a couple of little sachets of shower gel and shampoo. No conditioner, phone or smoke alarm in the rooms. This isn’t a three-star hotel. In reply to the hotel’s response, you may speak many languages, but you’re still replying in French!

The breakfast selection was delicious, and the location is wonderful. Parking is a hassle, with no special rate at the nearby underground garage. The shared areas could also use an update. For a three-star hotel, I expected a bit more comfort.

You can hear everything from the other rooms, since there’s no soundproofing. There’s no phone in the room or fire safety measure in place, so if there were a fire, there’d be no warning in the room and no way to call reception. Staff speak only French, and when you complain they treat you like an animal. I don’t understand how Booking.com allows this place on its site. Look at the Google reviews to see how the owner responds. This rotten property should be shut down, it’s a danger to tourists.
