Hôtel Parc Mazon

Small, very French rooms, but cool, and the basics are all there. I even got two pillows, haha. It’s cheap for Biarritz and in a great area, with bars nearby but not right on top of you. Breakfast was simple. It’s a guy and his wife running the place, and they take lunch and a rest before opening at 4. Good on them in the summer heat. I had a great wander around, went back at 4, had a douce and watched surfers on the other beach from up top as the sun dropped into the B of B!

The owners were extremely rude, and we left because we no longer felt safe there. We’d booked three nights and asked to change rooms or get a refund for the two nights we hadn’t used. The owner refused both. A man yelled, “you stay at that room or get out!” and kept shouting at us in French, which I don’t understand. We left immediately, without a refund. The room was very dirty and dusty, with lots of mosquitoes biting us and flying around our ears so we couldn’t sleep. The bedsheet also caused my friend an allergic reaction. The owners told us we were the first to complain about service and cleanliness. We said lots of one-star Google reviews described the same issues, but they called those reviews fake. They seem to blame others instead of evaluating their service. I only regret not checking Google reviews before booking.

Our room was very clean and quiet, and we had a pleasant stay. It had a skylight, and the location was great for the market, beach and town. The host was very kind and spoke Spanish, which was perfect since my French is awful. We’ll definitely come back!

We visited in winter, when the hotel was quiet and prices were very reasonable. The reception was welcoming, and our room was exactly as expected and very clean. It’s also conveniently placed within walking distance of the beach and city centre.
