Hôtel Saint James

The room and bathroom were nice. The receptionist and the cleaning lady were among the nicest people I met in France.

There’s no air conditioning, and food smells from the restaurants downstairs drift into the room in the evening. The sloping walls are a hazard if you’re not careful, and I found the bathroom having no door unlike anything I’d experienced at a hotel.

The room was very clean, and the staff were lovely. As a woman traveling alone, feeling safe and able to walk around freely matters a lot to me. Biarritz is generally very safe, and being right in the busy town center helped me feel comfortable. In August, though, the city is lively and the noise in this central area continues very late at night. It didn’t bother me, but it’s useful to know before booking.

Laure was probably the loveliest person in biarritz, though everyone was lovely, and a great host. The place itself is beautiful and so well located, close to everywhere we wanted to go. They do warn you about some nighttime noise, especially on weekends, but the windows and shutters are so good that we barely noticed anyone outside. I'd love to stay here again if I return to biarritz ❤️
