Hotel Val Flores

For a short stay, this hotel does the job. The rooms are clean, though small, and have the basics: a shower, hairdryer and small closet. Housekeeping comes daily, and the staff are friendly. Breakfast is nice, with different coffees and juices and a good buffet selection. It's not far from a beautiful beach, though the waves are big and the currents strong. I can recommend it.

The breakfast was basic, and on day two the bread was plainly from the day before. When we tried to raise the room problems with the manager, she was dismissive and aggressive, and insulted us in French, apparently thinking we wouldn't understand. The room was damp enough to be uncomfortable and badly in need of general maintenance. Nearly every handle, holder and rail was loose or coming off, and two curtain rails fell down during our stay. The toilet door wouldn't close, the toilet leaked constantly, and the window shutters were held together with wire. The website is misleading, and I suspect the good reviews are fake. The price doesn't come close to matching the room or service. The only positive I can think of is that it brought back memories of backpacking in developing countries.

The room was damp and noisy all night, and our bed and clothes were wet every day. The toilet and its door were broken, as were the shutters. The curtains didn't fit the rail, so streetlights made the room bright at night. Staff were extremely aggressive and dismissive when we mentioned the problems. It was overpriced and in disrepair. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.
