Villas L’Orée de Milady

The heat made sleeping really difficult and spoiled much of our week here. We knew when booking that there was no air conditioning, but in an exceptionally hot September there weren’t any fans either. Opening the doors and windows brought in mosquitoes, and with no screens we got bitten all over. We had to keep everything shut and close the shutters to hold back the heat, so it felt like living in a dark box. We stayed in a lovely, well-equipped villa for eight, with a small shared pool on site. The beach is a quick walk away, with several restaurants along the coast. There’s a bus stop nearby, and it’s about a 10-minute ride to the centre, where there’s plenty to see and do, plus good restaurants, shops, and supermarkets. The nearest convenience shop to the villa is on a campsite about a 10-minute walk away, and has basics like bread, milk, and wine. Biarritz is a must, but I wouldn’t suggest these villas in hot weather if you can’t stand mosquitoes or indoor heat.
