We spent three nights at Hah Lay and loved it. Pierre is a fantastic host, and his stunning Basque house quickly felt like home. He happily shares local knowledge, from surf spots to places for local food and cultural details. We rented high-quality boards for the smaller surf, and my wife really enjoyed her lesson. The yoga classes were serene, and the view from the balcony was pure bliss. We'll be back!
Hah-Lay feels like a home and a place to recharge, with a wonderful crowd of people. There's room for adventure, activities and company, while still having your own privacy and space. The staff are amazing and go above and beyond for their guests.
The terrace has an amazing view, and the recently refurbished house is simple and elegant, with lovely details. The young staff were so welcoming and always there to help us feel at home. Breakfast is served each day at a big table with the other guests. Everything was delicious, from the fresh bread to the homemade smoothies, and you can tell the food is made with love. I came by myself but soon met other travelers, and we shared a family-style barbecue dinner that felt really special. I loved it so much I extended my stay.
Pierre, the owner, is really nice, and the adorably cute house is in a great location. We planned to stay for two days but ended up staying five. Highly recommend!
It feels like so much more than a guesthouse, surf and yoga, good breakfasts and cozy dinners, or a staff who feel like friends. Thank you!
