The late-night lockout was the most frustrating part. There'd been no warning the place would be closed, and the note on a separate door had a number that didn't work. We eventually reached Luca through the number listed on Google, but he was dismissive about a problem that felt avoidable. The stay also felt poor value: it came across like a one- or two-star hotel priced as a charming historic getaway. We chose it because it was close to the wedding venue we were attending, and that might make it practical for other wedding guests too. The manor is nearly 200 years old and impressive in its way, with character in some rooms, though others felt dated and lacked modern amenities. My bedding looked worn and must have been over 20 years old. My friend's en-suite had a compost toilet, where you were expected to shovel sawdust in after using it. I also had ants in my room, including on the bed one morning. On arrival, Luca, the owner, tried to put my friend and me in one room even though we'd paid for two. Breakfast was underwhelming too, basically toast, cereal, tea, coffee and some fruit, with nothing cooked. Unless old, slightly run-down French manor houses are your particular thing, I'd have a hard time recommending a stay here.

La Cure's history and character are what stay with you. It's a fantastic old manor house with centuries of stories, and the lady of the house is happy to share them. There's plenty of room, reasonable facilities, good bike storage, and a table d’hôte. Ask to see the Gothic room!

We had such a lovely four-night stay in this charming, history-filled Chateau, and would happily come back again and again. Our room was spotless and the bed really comfortable. Luca and Lucia were warm and easy to communicate with, and the place was super dog friendly. They provided vegan breakfasts and could also make vegan dinners on request. We highly recommend it.

The mother and son welcomed us so warmly during our one-night stay. They clearly take great pride in this ancestral home, which has been in their family for more than 300 years. I loved the history and atmosphere.

We never got to see the rooms, but the outside of the hotel looked lovely. A mix-up meant Danielle and Luca couldn't give us a room at short notice. They still made sure we weren't left stranded by arranging a stay at their friends' beautiful place and kindly driving us between places. They were incredibly friendly and kind, and spoke excellent English. We really appreciated their help. Thank you!
