Hôtel & Spa Château de La Côte - Brantôme

The food was the highlight of our three days celebrating a big birthday with 35 guests. Breakfast was fairly average, but all three dinners were top class, with every course at the formal meals done perfectly. The BBQ and Plancha had a good variety too. Compliments to the chef. We loved the large pool and used it every day. The countryside setting is superb, and inside the Château has a wonderful old-world, rustic feel that suits a magnificent building of its age. The proprietor, Olivier, along with several staff, were warm and welcoming and went out of their way to look after me and my guests. Special mention to the barman and breakfast service staff. A couple of the women working during the day were unfortunately rather grumpy and didn’t show the customer service attitude I’d expect from a place of this class. One drawback was that reception, the bar, and salon were locked from 1 to 4 pm, even when the Château was booked exclusively. I understand closing reception, but it would have been nice for guests to have afternoon drinks, and the Château could have earned more from an open bar. Even with those issues, we had an amazing fairytale three days. My heartfelt thanks to Olivier and his team for making us all feel special. I’d recommend a dinner, stay, or private event here.

We spent five dreamy days at the Chateau for a birthday with family and friends who came from all over the world. It’s a beautiful place, and the grounds and surroundings are lovely. The heat made the pool especially welcome. Inside, there’s beautiful old French furniture, but the Chateau still feels homely. The staff were kind and friendly, and went out of their way to accommodate us. We’ll always remember it.

The room was huge, with a massive bathroom and private access from it to a tower. The view was exquisite, and I felt like a princess in a fairytale. Outside, there were birds and squirrels everywhere, and the secluded setting was lovely. The château itself is beautiful, with friendly staff, and we made good use of the swimming pool, which was free to use. Dinner was excellent, both the food and the presentation. Breakfast had fewer choices and was on a smaller scale, as expected, but it was all fresh. I liked the quiet atmosphere too. We’ll be back.

Our wedding week here in late September 2022 couldn’t have made us happier. Olivier and the staff worked so hard to make our wedding dreams come true. If you’re considering the château for a wedding or big event, ignore the 1-2 star reviews from people who clearly lack imagination and taste. You won’t regret it. We can’t wait to return for anniversaries year after year.
