Hôtel Côte et Lac

The service here was among the best I've ever experienced, and it really brightened my day. The hotel is in a great spot, and I'm glad I stopped during my trip. If you're passing through, I recommend paying them a visit.

We’ve been back many times since first finding this hotel a few years ago, and it works just as well for a quick visit as a longer stay in Biscarrosse. The lake is a three-minute walk away, and the beaches and Dune du Pyla are an easy five-minute drive. There’s also a wonderfully restful pool, and the owners are consistently kind to us and the other guests, with a very relaxed attitude. Our room has always been clean and pleasant. Some rooms have terraces, while others open straight onto the pool. The owner cooks with fresh local ingredients, and the food is full of care and imagination, from the buffet to the main courses. It’s a charming place with plenty of regulars, so it’s best to book ahead. I really don’t recognize the place described by that other reviewer, and wonder if he might mean somewhere else.

The restaurant food was very good, but that was the only redeeming part of our stay. Our room was filthy: the bathroom and shower curtain had fungus on them, the carpet had stains that looked like blood, and pretty much everything else was dirty too. I’ve been to France maybe 20 times and haven’t seen hygiene this poor. The owner also went off on what felt like an insane rant over a simple misunderstanding caused by one of her employees. We had our baby boy with us, and he was so frightened afterward that he couldn’t sleep for hours. I’d avoid this hotel completely.
