The food was fresh, organic, and genuinely good, and Margaret made sure we had everything for a comfortable stay. She welcomed us with local cider in her lovely garden, and we ended up talking for ages. Her English is beautiful, and we enjoyed hearing about the village and the house where she was born and has lived all her life, apart from a short period when the Nazis occupied it during the war. Ask her about that. We felt like guests in Margaret's home, not customers at a B&B. She's a lovely, slightly feisty person, and it was a special way to learn about French village life. I only wish we'd had more time there.
