A Madonetta

Bonifacio is well worth visiting, even with all the tourists. It has stunning views and a rich history. Start with the one-hour boat tour, which costs 18 Euro. The hotel is modern, with a spacious room and terrace, blackout shades, and quiet AC. Its location works well for the old town, and if you have a car, parking is free and getting in and out of town is easy. The less positive part was the staff, who seemed perhaps tired of tourists and didn't smile. Breakfast costs 14 Euro. The shower is handheld in a high tub, with no hook, so you have to climb in.

The hotel sits a little way from the town center, which was a plus for us since some restaurants play music late into the night. We had a very large deluxe suite, though it was expensive. The rooms were very clean and well air conditioned, and there's parking as well as an underground garage. Staff speak very little English, unfortunately. Still, it's a highly recommended place.

We had loads of space, including an annex above us for the children's bed, reached by a spiral staircase. The beds were comfortable, and the place was clean and modern. It's an easy walk to the heart of Bonifacio's dockland shops and restaurants, and we loved the citadel restaurants. There's a shuttle if you don't want to walk up. Parking is limited, so arrive early. The Wi-Fi didn't work, even after we tried four different printed ticket codes, and getting only one room key was a pain.

Our room was comfortable and big enough for five of us, two adults and three children. Breakfast offered a good mix of sweet and savory things, with fresh juice, local cheese, cured ham, and sausages available.
