I enjoyed looking around Galerie Bordelaise on Rue Sainte-Catherine during my recent trip to Bordeaux. This old shopping arcade, now a National Monument (1975), was designed by Gabriel-Joseph Durand and opened in 1834. Its marble columns and elegant details are showing their age, which adds to the sense of its past. It was a fashionable, high-end place to shop in the 19th century, and a few shops are still open today. Worth a quick browse if historic buildings interest you.
