Le Balzac - 60m2 avec terrasse

The room felt fresh and clean, with new decor, though it was short on furniture and the bed was rock hard. Staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel is reasonably priced and well placed for nearby attractions. There’s on-site parking, but you need to book it ahead.

Out of around 12 hotels on our trip through Europe, this was the only one we had to flee from. The room smelled terrible and the conditions were unbearably unsanitary. In the kitchen there was old food left by other guests, ground-in grime, fresh dirt, and dust. We refused to spend the night and booked somewhere else. We were promised a refund, but it never came, and our emails have gone unanswered. Strongly not recommended.

The location really is amazing, but that’s the only good part. The beds were hard as concrete, the water pressure was awful, and the toilet took eight flushes every time. In spring, the AC only heated the room to 27 degrees. We had to leave the windows open and ended up with a mosquito safari indoors. Still, that location... 😇

The front desk service was amazing, and the room kept me warm through the cold winter. A tram stop nearby gets you to the city centre in 10 minutes, which was very convenient. I’d have liked more shampoo and conditioner options, and somewhere to sit in the reception lounge. Otherwise, I really enjoyed my stay and hope to return.
